Augmented Reality. The future.

This generation changes everything in the "world around them - their desktop, Web site, ring tone, handle, screen-saver, news sources, and entertainment." (34) How do or should they customize this technology to supercharge their learning experiences - helping retain their interest and help them learn faster.?

Simple Augmented Reality (SAR) allows for a very immediate and customized range of information .

The future of Simple Augmented Reality cuts out the "middle man technology" by allowing for each individual to have access to information directly in their field of vision, instead of having to always consult a phone, computer, book, etc.. This will incredibly speed up the amount of time it takes today's students to a more efficient way of connecting to the internet. Augmented reality is the way to go to step the learning wave up. The ways you could use augmented reality are endless and to the student this is awesome. We would not only have one way of learning like we would in a book, but the whole world is open to our learning with augmented reality.

The new emerging way to use AR is to use it as visual blueprints while looking at an open landscape. This would help to lay out an area instead of having to do the intense scouting for space and area. Augmented reality is now being used in the gaming and collaborative world in conferences and group gaming sites. The example you see above is ARQuake, you put on ar goggles and you are able to see the technology world of gaming with the real world layout.

Augmented reality is what we will be going to in the next 10 years without a doubt. Consumers will be able to walk into a grocery store and just look down the aisle with their AR Goggles or contacts and have there programmed diet pop up rite in front of their faces in a 3-d form. The goggles may also help tourism as far as taking the boring tour guide out of the picture and putting in a virtual landscape of learning right in front of your eyes. This helps people have the internet placed right in front of them instead of having to go to Google and typing in a question. The Bar code can also be implemented into the governmental stand point. The government can place Augmented reality bar codes on speed limit signs. This would help drivers know what a hidden or upcoming sign would say instead of having to wait for the last minute to see it. This technology could also help the police, by seeing a car that is going over the speed limit by seeing the tracker data in the cars AR log.

The educational world is changing more and more as the baby boomer age grows older. We are now implementing just about everything in our daily lives into the internet. AR could change the world as we know it in the classrooms. When we open a book we wouldn't just have pages, but an actual screen in front of us that we could read and if we had questions we could just click on the word in front of us. The field trips that schools take could be in our learning environments instead of the boring old tour guide that the students never listen to. You could just put on your googles set your learning program in and then everywhere you look you would pick up augmented reality codes of historical sites. They could then tell you about these objects at your own pace. Augmented reality could also be used in books by putting tiny codes in the index and a page would pop up in front of you so you could have the specific information you wanted to look up.

A history teacher could use AR to "place videos, or notes that supplement research, in the students text books.

When the students read through them with their special AR glasses or contacts the digital information will pop up in their field of vision.

Or students could "place" digital notes on their actual homework assignments for later.

The classroom is becoming a world where students are actually enjoying their time spent there. Students are able to connect on the internet with each other every day but only through wires. The new way for students to connect will be augmented reality. Students will soon only have to put on there glasses and see other students learning with them and the different techniques of learning. Augmented reality is being used now in collaborative task. "The classes use 3-D models in the class to build different things in the class or the schematics for building a computer."

Augmented reality can be used to compare the data of digital mock-ups with physical mock-ups for efficiently finding discrepancy between the two sources. It can further be employed to safeguard digital data in combination with existing real prototypes, and thus save or minimize the building of real prototypes and improve the quality of the final product.

It allows them to customize what they want to access, when they want to access it, and even allows for easier revisions on the information they are accessing.
